The Story Behind Furahia Eco Inn
The dream of Godwin
Eight years ago, Godwin , an experienced hotel manager and safari & trekking guide, dreamed of creating his own Eco Inn. While working full-time in the hospitality industry and as a nature guide, he slowly built his vision, step by step. On a stunning piece of land bordering the rainforest, home to Colobus monkeys, 800-year-old trees, and crystal-clear spring water, he began constructing a sustainable retreat.
A special meeting
Godwin met Anja , a traveler from the Netherlands exploring Tanzania with her friend. She had long dreamed of creating a nature-focused space for connection and meaningful encounters.
When Godwin took Anja to his Eco Inn, she immediately felt that something special could grow here—a place that honors the African environment and community while bringing joy.
And so, their collaboration was born, along with the name Furahia – Swahili for "joy of life". A retreat that welcomes travelers and supports local projects while promoting eco-friendly initiatives
